It's a little big bigger than I'd visualised, but it's very good! It fits in the front cig lighter of my Audi and I can still get my fingers to the auto button and turn a knob.It swivels so I can push it back or forth, just handy. I can also change gears no problem without catching my fingers on it - see vid.I like how the retractable wires have a stop-start mechanism. The wire fits all the way to my mobile on the dash, so when I'm using maps I can keep my mobile charging too. I also really like how the works can be kept taut, not waffing about all over the place. It's perfect for me because I have an s phone and a i phone so the cables are perfect I can charge both at the same time: a quick boost before work.Feels good quality, heavy in the hand. Looks a bit weird but can't fault it for that lol. Definitely recommend, 5/5.
In theory, this is a nice idea - a car charger with captive cables which automatically retract. It has a Lightning cable for Apple devices and a USB-C cable for Android, along with USB-A and -C sockets. The charging cables are around 2 feet long, and retract with a spring mechanism similar to a washing line. There is a useful display of voltage, which lets you know that the battery and alternator in your car are doing their job as intended. The charger powered my iPhone 13 without problem, and the whole thing feels solidly built. The only problem is that the thing is really bulky due to needing two spring retraction mechanisms and the associate cable. Most of my car chargers fit entirely within the cigar lighter socket on the car - this one pokes out and takes up a lot of space, which in many cars will foul things like the cupholders. In reality, you're better off having separate cables which you just plug in as needed rather than these captive cables.
This product was an honestly good surprise. It is very well built and well thought out. I was expecting the pivot point to not take much force to move, but there is surprising amount of resistance. In my opinion is good to prevent it being floppy and adding unnecessary tension on the charging cable.Speaking of the cables, they are simple in assembly, just a rubber coating. The winding mechanism is simply to trigger, one click for the locking point, and pulling another click to start the retraction.Unfortunately, the built in USB-C cable is unable to support fast charging on my S20, contrary to what the description states.Overall good design, and not cumbersome when inserted in car.
I was very excited to get this item, but unfortunately, it is not what I expected it to be. I am sure it will work as described, but my problem is that there is only one place where this would fit, which is between the two front seats, & I call it the cubby. It is not a very big spot, so putting this in the cubby takes up way too much room, & I have a few small items that I keep in there, & if I use this item in that place, then it means I have to take out something that I really like to keep there. Overall, this item will work well for someone who has a bigger car than I have. The item itself is very nice looking, & there is nothing technically wrong with it, just takes up too much room. I just want others to make an informed decision.
This car charger works as a rapid charger when tested on a Motorola and a Samsung phone using the retractable USB C cable and the USB C port with a separate (not provided) USB C to USB C cable. The charger has two additional options for providing power to mobile devices. An USB A port as well as a Lightning cable which is also retractable. These two options however are lower power (capable of delivering a maximum of 2.4mps as labelled on the charger). The Lightning charger cable I do not have a use for as we do not have any Apple products, but I will add a simple Lightning to USB C adapter to give me a second retractable (slower) charging option..The cable lengths are approximately two and a half feet when fully pulled extended which is enough for the passenger to continue to use their device while it is charging, but they are not long enough for passengers in the back seat to use.Another useful feature is the built in voltmeter. The instrument cluster on my SUV does not include a voltage indicator, so I appreciate the ability to see the state of my battery/charging system this feature provides. It is not a small device at approx. 2.5" across by 1.5" deep but the hinged ability allows you to position how you want it so it is out of the way as much as possible. The ability to store the cable away inside the device once you are done with it, and to adjust the length to how long or short you want it to keep the center area clutter free while in use is this devices best feature. This is a mutli-function charger that works as a rapid charger from two of four charging options it has, and helps to keep things nice and tidy. I recommend this due to its flexibility and options provided.
